Hi,
I currently have major problems getting an older DVD burner to work. The build is a bit special in some aspects as it runs multiple OS' and has some hardware to access special media like C64 or Amiga floppy disks. Besides the Catweasel controller a standard PCIe IDE controller is installed for the optical drive and an IDE floppy disk drive. Due to the purpose of this machine there are more cards installed like a serial/parallel port card.
The optical drive is a Pioneer DVR-103, which is a model Apple used themselves. My drive is the standard PC version which worked fine before I upgraded the mainboard (because the old one died) and the OS'.
As you see it's an IDE drive hooked up to the PCIe IDE controller as the motherboard itself doesn't support IDE anymore.
Under El Capitan the drive is recognized and can be used as readonly drive with no problems. As soon as I try to erase or write DVD media the software behaves strange. Toast and Dragon burn report some strange sense codes, and MacOS itself just remounts the media.
Under Catalina the drive isn't recognized at all.
BTW, is there any way to output a complete and comprehensive device list and if possible the drivers attached to them? The system report only shows my GFX card under PCI although as mentioned earlier there are more devices that are even in use (like the serial ports).
Any suggestions or ideas regarding the optical drive?
Regard,
Torsten
